Progress

I'd like to hear how you all are doing with training. I did 7 miles yesterday. I was even able to run in between 2 and 3 miles of the seven. I finished in about 1:45.

  1. So are you running without interruption? Or 7 miles, running/walking? I've run consistently without stopping, but I'm at 3 miles and holding, mostly because of time. This week is the point of no return. I'm running 5 miles on Sunday, but 3 on Tues/Thurs and cross training on Wed/St for 30 minutes, plus weights on Sat.

  2. So Trude-that's about 15 min mile...what time did you estimate for race?

  3. I estimated 3.5 hrs. I am mostly walking which is a huge change from my original goal but it is what it is. I have to be real about what I can accomplish safely. I can walk a mile in just over 16 mins pretty consistently so when i run here and there I can reduce it to 15 mins a mile. I did 4 miles in an hour yesterday and ran just under 2 miles of it. I felt relatively strong which I haven't been feeling at all . Truthfully I think the reason for not feeling strong is a combination of being out of shape and being 48 !

  4. O.K., I feel really weird reporting my progress!!! I did 11 miles last week and my goal for tomorrow is at least 11 1/2. I was sore but not terribly. I feel good running and it gives me two hours to think, pray and listen to tunes. It doesn't really get better than that. I only have one concern and that's the weather. Today is 50, but I'm sure it will be really warm on May 1st...I have run in 90 degree weather before, so time will tell. I'm going to track my exact time from door to door on my ipod tomorrow and I'll let you know what happens.

  5. I've been running outside for the last 2 weeks and like it so much better! I'm not sure what I'm averaging per hour because I leave the house, stretch, run, stretch and go in and look at clock. It's around 12/hr on the treadmill with no headwind or hills! I'll try timing it this week. I'm running every other day, with longer run on weekend, but I am so busy right now that I haven't done more than 5 miles as a long run. This weekend was my first one home this month. I get so excited when I get home that I want to go run again. I love love love this!
